“Aaron Cupples is one of Australia’s most talented young producers”
- Audio Technology Magazine

Hailing from Gippsland, Victoria, Aaron Cupples is a producer, mixer, sound engineer, songwriter and performer who has cut his teeth working with some of Australia’s most prestigious musicians. With expertise spanning traditional engineering techniques to analogue and digital programming environments, Aaron has become a sought after producer for artists that embrace a mix of traditional, electronic, and contemporary instrumentation.

Aaron is currently based in London from where he runs his own studio working on recording projects with both Australian and international artists as well as overseeing his personal project, CIVIL CIVIC. A band which has received praise from UK press including The Guardian, NME, Uncut as well as airplay from BBC 6 Radio and Radio 1, CIVIL CIVIC tours consistently throughout Europe and Australia.

Aaron has also gained a reputation in location recordings which has seen him recording in many unorthodox environments including farmhouses, churches, and a 150 year old abandoned mill in Tasmania for seminal Australian rock band, The Drones. Aaron’s production style ranges from richly textured and intricately layered (Snowman | Absence), to a more raw and organic approach (The Drones | Gala Mill). His live recordings also focus on capturing the intimacy and atmosphere of concert performance (Paul Kelly | The A-Z Recordings, Live at the Spiegeltent.)

Aaron has most recently turned his talents to the art of song-writing and composition. He has since co-written with artists such as Dan Kelly, The Drones, Ben Salter, Nick Littlemore, Is Tropical (UK), Kirin J. Callinan and Jason Spaceman (Spiritualized/ Spaceman3).

Aaron was described as “one of Australia’s most talented young producers” by Audio Technology Magazine and recently had the honour of having produced and mixed two albums included in an industry voted ’100 Greatest Australian Records Of All Time’ list.
